ROBERT LEE - Josefina Sanchez Rocha, 68, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009. She passed away at a local nursing home. Visitation will be held all day Monday, Jan. 5, and Tuesday, Jan. 6. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Robert Lee Baptist Church with the burial to follow in the Robert Lee Hispanic Cemetery. Services are under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Josefina was born Nov. 28, 1941, in Bronte, Texas. She was the first of four children born to Sotera Galvan. She married the late Jesus Rocha on June 14, 1959. They lived in Houston, Texas, for 27 years. There she worked as an electronic technician for 15 years at Hycel Corp. They moved to Robert Lee, Texas, in 1993. Josefina embodied a spirit of generosity, giving of meager means. She made herself available to her family, neighbors, friends, and strangers. Josefina embodied a spirit of forgiveness, which set an example for family and friends. She never complained about illness and always reassured everyone she was okay. Josefina was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Rocha; and her brother, Roy Galvan. Survivors include her mother, Sotera Galvan of Robert Lee; her daughter, Frances Mendoza of Robert Lee; her sisters, Martha Trejo and Mary Rodriguez, both of Robert Lee; her grandchildren, Gracie Sosa and Sergio Rocha, both of Big Lake, Texas, and Jesus Cerritos, Veronica Canderos, Amanda Mendoza, Alexis Mendoza and Jorge Mendoza, all of Robert Lee; her great-grandchildren, Alex Sosa, Fernando Sosa, Myrka Sosa, Caitlyn Cerritos, Anthony Landeros, Alyssa Landeros, and the future Zachery Taylor Cerritos.
